In this role you will have the opportunity to learn about and provide support for the sub-rights compliance function of the department.

​This is an exciting entry level position for a self-motivated individual with exceptional attention to detail to join our busy but supportive Business Affairs team.

​This role will work closely with and support the Compliance Manager by assisting with the collection of royalty statements and invoicing of payments for designated areas of Foreign Rights, Licensing, and other subsidiary rights agreements. As well as maintaining up-to-date, accurate records and filing systems relating to such earnings.

Responsibilities

​Assisting with invoicing Foreign Rights, Licensing, permissions, and any other subsidiary rights income (advances, guarantees and royalty earnings) as designated by the Compliance ManagerCompliance tracking and chasing of royalty statements and unpaid invoices/debt from national and international licensees via departmental spreadsheets and Biblio (our publishing database)Entering unearned royalty statements and income receipts on Biblio, under supervision, ensuring relevant commissions are deducted, accurate currency conversions are applied, bank charges and withholding tax is dealt with as needed, and including descriptive notes when necessaryWhen posting statements and income, checking Walker's onward reporting and payment obligations to contributors are met according to Walker's head contracts, e.g., checking contributor sharesAnalysing and verifying royalty statements received, comparing them to Walker's subsidiary rights contracts and querying with licensees as may be necessary; accurate posting of said royalty statements on BiblioWorking closely with the Compliance Manager and the Finance Department on the monthly reconciliation of subright receiptsActioning credit reference checks for prospective licensees and liaising with colleagues in the Business Affairs team over any issues that may arise, and with the relevant member of staff requesting the checkGeneral administrative assistance around double taxation exemption agreements and certificates of residence, liaising with HMRC when necessaryMaintaining records pertaining to VAT self-billing agreements under Walker's head contracts and other tax areas, keeping contributor VAT and tax statuses up to date and correct on BiblioUpdating centralised spreadsheets for withholding tax deductions made/not made under self-certificationUpdating the Business Affairs Department of any compliance related issues at weekly department meetingRelated administration: maintaining files, records, and own correspondenceDealing with both internal and external payment related queriesProviding key administrative support to the Compliance ManagerAd hoc tasks as required ​Please note, that the above is not an exhaustive list and does not necessarily include all the duties the job holder may have to perform.
