The team at Elizabeth Casson House an 8-bed female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) are looking for a compassionate and skilled nurse to join our team of enthusiastic and passionate individuals dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Our ward has recently undergone a comprehensive refurbishment to provide an updated and modernised space for our patients. The renovation includes fresh, calming aesthetics and improved functionality, creating a more welcoming and therapeutic atmosphere. Within the newly refurbished unit, we have a dedicated sensory room. This tranquil space offers a range of sensory experiences such as lighting, sounds, textures, and colours. It's a vital resource for promoting relaxation, self-regulation, and emotional well-being among our patients.



Main duties of the job

As a staff nurse on ECH, you will play a crucial role in providing specialised care to female patients with acute mental health needs. This challenging and rewarding position requires a compassionate and skilled nurse to ensure the safety, well-being and recovery of individuals facing crisis.

A key aspect of your role will be working collaboratively with patients to develop effective management and treatment plans. You will work alongside the MDT to promote recovery and manage acute episode of crisis. ECH can be fast paced and you will encounter a diverse range of individuals some of which may present with high levels of agitation. The team are looking for someone who is resilient and welcomes a challenge with skills in de-escalation and management of aggression.

Due to the intense nature of the ward you will have the opportunity to work closely with individual service users in the role of named nurse. An element of the job that can be extremely rewarding. You will also be responsible for coordinating shifts, administering medication and supporting junior staff.
