Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2023 and beyond, we are currently seeking a Technology Resilience Architect, to join HSBC.

Role Description:

We are looking for a Technology Resilience Architect to join our growing Resilience Architecture team, at a pivotal point where Resilience is one of the three pillars of HSBC's Technology Strategy. The ideal candidate is strong technically, with experience in and a passion for technology resilience. They will work on the big global resilience initiatives within HSBC and play a key role in uplifting the bank's quality of service for our customers.

Purpose: Support the Technology Resilience initiatives within WPB including representation

Responsibilities:

  • Help to develop the Technology Resilience strategy and sub-strategies, considering all aspects of resilience: application, infrastructure, security, data, monitoring, people & process.
  • Deliver architecture and designs for central resilience services.
  • Develop the Technology Resilience framework and support the roll out across HSBC.
  • Collaborate with Technology teams on building best practice resilience design patterns / solutions, for re-use.
  • Help to build resilience skills within Technology teams.

Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:

  • Senior engineer / architect in some or all of these technology domains: Application, Infrastructure/Cloud, Security, Data.
  • Technology resilience specialist.

We are building a strong Resilience Architecture team, with a blend of skills. The candidate will have experience and expertise in some of these areas:

  • Application architecture
  • Infrastructure / Cloud architecture
  • Microservices architecture
  • DevOps
  • Container architecture
  • Infrastructure as Code and Automation
  • CI/CD pipeline and Automated Testing
  • SRE / Production Support
  • Observability (Logging, Monitoring, Telemetry, Metrics)
  • Chaos Engineering
  • Strategy author
  • Banking experience
  • Global organisation experience
  • Data analysis / AI on large data sets, drawing conclusions and insights.

  • You are comfortable professionally challenging the assumptions and ideas of others, even senior management, to ensure the best outcomes are achieved.
  • You bring an engineering mind-set to designing solutions, helping to achieve operational scale as well as system reliability.

The role can be based in Sheffield, Birmingham or Leeds- This role supports Hybrid working
