Youth Support Worker

Youth Development Worker required for a 2 month contract based in Torquay, TQ1
  • £14.46ph (£27,815 per annum)
  • 37 hours per week on a rolling rota: hours between 9am and 8pm and working 1 in 5 weekends - bank holidays are considered a normal working day.
  • 10 minutes' walk from Torre train station
  • Limited on street parking available nearby
  • Start Date: 6th June
  • Expected Length of Contract: 2 months - to cover period of sick leave
About the job
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team within supported accommodation for young people aged 16-25.
  • Delivering 1-2-1 support sessions on life skills
  • Working through support and action plans
  • Supporting group activities as part of the learning programme
  • Updating risk assessments and risk management plans, in order for residents to develop the life skills necessary to move on and live independently in the community
The right candidate
  • Holder of a current enhanced DBS criminal record check
  • Previous experience in a similar role such as support worker, care assistant etc
  • A good understanding of young people's needs, safeguarding and emotional and mental health issues
  • An understanding of support needs and support planning
