Assistant Teaching Professor in Computational and Systems Biology

The Department of Genetics wishes to appoint a temporary Assistant Teaching Professor in the area of computational and systems biology for 12 months from 1 October 2024, or as soon as possible after this date. This is a fixed-term post, and is to provide cover during a period of leave for another member of staff.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a clear commitment to teaching. They will provide both teaching and course management, with the primary contribution being to our successful fourth year undergraduate Systems Biology course:

Duties will include acting as Senior Examiner and Course Organiser for this course, as well as the development and delivery of lectures for this and other courses in the Department of Genetics and within the bioengineering theme of the Department of Engineering. The successful applicant should be educated to degree level, normally with a PhD in a relevant specialist subject area or equivalent experience. We are particularly interested in applicants who have some experience delivering advanced undergraduate teaching and can demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team to deliver a high quality learning experience.

The Department of Genetics offers a world class teaching environment and the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to other areas of departmental life.
