HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) / Unqualified Teacher

Job Description:


We are looking for a versatile HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) or an Unqualified Teacher with a big heart, a warm smile, and a passion for working with students experiencing Social and Emotional Mental Health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Support:

Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons, focusing on students with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs.


Emotional Support:
Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and supported emotionally.

Individualized Learning:
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, tailoring approaches to their specific challenges and abilities.

Behavior Management:
Implement effective behavior management techniques, maintaining a calm and positive atmosphere in the classroom.

Collaboration:
Work closely with teachers, educational psychologists, and other support staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Progress Monitoring:
Track student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.

Promote Inclusion:
Champion inclusive practices and promote the social integration of students with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs.

Professional Development:
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in working with these students.

Qualifications and Skills:
A big heart and a warm smile.

Experience working with students who have Social and Emotional Mental Health challenges (experience as an HLTA or Unqualified Teacher is a plus).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a strong desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young learners.
Willingness to learn and adapt to the unique needs of each student.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility and a growth mindset.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
