Bracknell, Bracknell Forest, United Kingdom Activate Learning Full time

Who we are:

Activate Learning is a pioneering education group with a global reach, committed to transforming lives through our approach to learning.

We see our employees as individuals, empowering them to make the right choices for their ambitions and careers. We value our people as vital to our continued success and aspire to a diverse, open and inclusive environment that provides the motivation for everyone to pursue their career goals and flourish.

When you work for Activate Learning, you're working for an organisation that provides you with the advantages of a large employer, a trusted partner in your career development, and a transformational way of working whilst also investing in building a community environment for everyone.

Together, we will bring out the best version of yourself.

About the role: Public Services Teacher

Activate Learning are looking for public service professionals to teach and join our public services teaching team at Bracknell and Wokingham College.

Our students are eager to learn and we want to appoint someone who can provide them with a high level of knowledge and skills, such as teamwork, leadership and communication, that they can utilise in their careers within the armed forces, police, fire and rescue service, custodial services and adventure training sectors.

You will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons up to level 3.

Our Lifestyles faculty has an excellent record of delivering vocational public/protective services courses with employability embedded at their heart. This is achieved through excellent relationships with industry and the employment of experts with extensive professional experience within the teaching team.

This is a permanent, part time role working 22 hours per week (0.65 FTE) based at our Bracknell campus.

What do you need to be a successful Public Services Teacher at Activate Learning?

We are looking for people who can act as role models for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work. A genuine interest in working with and developing young people is a requirement.

If you could enhance our students' understanding in areas such as: teamwork, leadership and communication; performance, behaviour, and discipline; physical preparation, health and wellbeing; or outdoor activity/expedition skills, then we would like to hear from you

Whilst previous teaching experience or qualifications would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the knowledge & experience to teach the aspects required in public/uniformed services and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.

About you:

  • You will have an appropriate professional qualification at level 3 or above
  • Experience in an armed forces, police, fire brigade, ambulance service or prison officer role is essential
  • It is desirable if you have a teaching qualification and worked within education as a teacher, but this is not essential

You will also have strong organisation skills coupled with the ability to prioritise workloads and will benefit from being part of a supportive team, working in a varied and interesting role with a variety of opportunities for career development.

Why work with the Activate Learning Group?

Here are some of our benefits:

  • Enrolment into generous pensions schemes
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Excellent on-site facilities including free onsite parking, refectory facilities, Hair and Beauty salons
  • An extensive Learning and Development programme with a range of CPD opportunities
  • Specialised support and development for teaching staff
  • Access to qualified coaches for all staff
  • Leadership and Management development programmes
  • Flexible working opportunities, where appropriate
  • A comprehensive wellbeing programme including access to Westfield Health Cash Plan and Everymind app
  • Mental Health support including access to Mental Health First Aiders
  • Employee Assistance Programme
