Job Summary

This is an important role within the senior administration of the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI). As the post holder, you will work closely with academic and professional staff to ensure effective and efficient administrative operational management of the NHLI. You will advise on the development of operational policy and successfully manage change. You will implement the strategies of the NHLI, Faculty of Medicine and College, and provide metrics to monitor progress to strategic goals (academic and financial).

Duties and responsibilities

  • As Division Manager you will have a broad range of financial and human resource management and are responsible for resolving complex issues related to grant funding, staff management, and the provision of facilities and services.
  • You will have line management responsibility for a Section Manager and a Research Group Administrator.

Essential requirements

  • You should have relevant experience in a university environment with an in depth understanding of the complexities of working in the sector.
  • A university degree or equivalent qualification
  • You should have experience of research grant, financial and HR management within a higher education setting.
  • You will have extensive experience of problem solving and working under pressure while co-ordinating the provision of an effective service.
  • Exceptional people management skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and motivate are essential, as is the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels.

The role is 0.6FTE, open ended with ideal working days being Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday based Hammersmith, South Kensington and Brompton Campuses, with travel to other campuses as require.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
