HLTA Year 7
Thank you for your interest in the post of Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for Year 7.
We are a Trust of nine schools, all based in South-East London. Whilst each of our schools maintains its individuality, we share a common mission: to ensure that every single child and young person in our care is successful at school so that they can flourish and be successful in their lives.
Our mission is simple – we want pupils to 'Become their best at Borough' in all aspects of their lives. We have the highest aspirations for each young person we work with and strive to help them to fulfil their potential.
Our Academy values, which were created by our young people, speak to that. We expect our learners to become excellent ambassadors for their community, by working hard to achieve their aspirations, whilst becoming kind and resilient citizens.
Our location in the centre of the capital allows us to provide a unique take on the curriculum, making the most of partnerships with world leading organisations which enrich and enhance our offer. In all areas of the curriculum, we aim to ignite a spark which enables our young people to become scholars of their chosen subject disciplines.
We are now seeking a new team member for our wonderful SEND team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
·Enabling access to the mainstream curriculum for a small group of students in a YR7 nurture group who have special educational needs, including those with Education, Health Care Plans. Creating opportunities for them to be successful and to flourish academically and personally.
·Taking a proactive, creative and collaborative approach to working with teachers to ensure planning is adapted and differentiated for the needs of the students in the class. For example, adapting resources or using SEND-friendly strategies to support those working at Primary School Level.
·Being a secure attachment for these students at school while promoting their independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. For example, supporting students to develop their emotion literacy, social interaction skills and executive functioning skills. Supporting them to have a secure transition to secondary school.
·Being an insightful and reflective practitioner, working alongside the Head of Learning Support (SENDCo), Head of Year, Form Tutor to plan and review targeted, and specialist interventions needed by the students.
·Being a compassionate, yet assertive key point of contact for parents of this group and supporting a collaborative relationship between home and school.
We look forward to hearing from you if you are aligned with our values and have the drive, skills and enthusiasm to make a real impact at Borough Academy.
