Join as a PMLD Support Assistant

GSL Education is thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for a PMLD Support Assistant in the vibrant community of Redbridge. This rewarding role offers a competitive salary and an immediate start date, allowing you to jump right into making a positive impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personalised Support: Provide tailored support to students with PMLD, ensuring their individual educational, emotional, and physical needs are met.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Specialised Care: Offer personal care support, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance, with sensitivity and respect.
  • Communication Aid: Utilize a variety of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, and other assistive technologies, to support students interaction and learning.
  • Progress Monitoring: Help track and document students' progress, celebrating their achievements and identifying areas for further support.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational experience.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with PMLD or in a similar SEN setting.
  • Skills: Proficiency in communication aids and techniques, patience, and a nurturing attitude.
  • Flexibility: Adaptable to changing needs and able to respond to a dynamic school environment.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field are highly desirable.
