We now have a great opportunity for a Fabric Engineer / Building Maintenance Operative to join our South West based NHS repairs and maintenance team which delivers a first-class repairs service in partnership with this NHS Trust. You will join our highly regarded repairs team to provide reactive, planned and preventative maintenance.

Job Purpose

Working as part of a highly skilled maintenance team as Maintenance Operative you will have the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of reactive works and planned preventative maintenance (PPM's). This is a static role however preference for a UK driving licence to be held for on call purposes.

Typical works could include depending on experience; replacing and repairing doors and frames including fire doors, TMV servicing/replacement, installing and repairing cabinets and wall based units, replacing pipework, skirting and boxing, sentinel checks, fire door inspections, fire alarm testing, repairs to fabric of building, replacing locks and much more. In addition to reactive repairs, there will also be some planned upgrade works, refurbishment as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe environment for service users.

full time permanent position. Normal working hours are 8am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will also participate in an on call rota for emergency repairs where you will receive a standby allowance and overtime rates.

Experience Required

Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential, ideally within the NHS. This experience might have been gained working directly for the NHS, or a maintenance contractor providing services within the NHS. We will also consider candidates with experience of maintaining commercial properties.

The ideal candidate will have achieved industry recognised qualifications such City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or having completed a formal apprenticeship or craft equivalent.
