The Graduate Ink Development Chemist is a richly varied role in a small friendly team. It will suit a chemistry / polymer / materials science graduate with hands-on lab-based chemical handling experience.

Based 4 days a week at our HQ in St Ives, Cambridgeshire (PE27 5JL), the Graduate Ink Development Chemist is responsible for the development and testing of new innovative ink formulations, testing of third-party inks, maintenance of the existing ink range, supporting our Manufacturing and Customer Service teams and dealing with HSE and regulatory enquiries.

Meet your manager -

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Leading and executing development projects and investigations including hands-on wet chemistry and running of printer trials to understand printers and their interactions with inks
  • Working as part of a wider cross functional team to bring projects to completion
  • Helping deliver breakthrough inkjet technologies to drive growth into new markets and applications
  • Providing technical support to internal and external customers
  • Contributing to ensuring high standards of HSE and 5S in the workplace

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BSc degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Materials or Polymer Science or related subject, ideally including some element of industry experience
  • General laboratory and chemical skills
  • Knowledge of inks, surface coatings, dispersion systems could be useful but isn't essential
  • Interest in Engineering to facilitate hands-on experience with inkjet printing equipment
