This role forms part of the battery manufacturing research group at the University of Sheffield. The post holder will work on a Faraday Institute grant (Nextrode) specifically working on research into new multiphase particle and powder engineering methodologies.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Professor Rachel Smith in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

The Department
Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) is ranked amongst the top 5 Chemical Engineering Departments in the UK and is a thriving department within the University's Faculty of Engineering. CBE comprises 38 academic staff, 58 research staff and technicians, 16 support staff and a student population of over 650 undergraduates, and 250 postgraduates (taught and research).
CBE is a major contributor to tackling the key challenges of this century - climate change, energy poverty, affordable medicines, sustainable agriculture and water use, safety and green manufacturing. It boasts a rich environment for learning which prepares students to be 21st century scientists and engineers and its disciplines span particle science and technology/nanotechnology, new energy technologies, the environment and applications of post-genomics bioscience for biotechnology and bioprocessing applications.

The role
- The main aim of the role is to plan and carry out experimental research relating to particle formation techniques, and be an active member of the Nextrode group.
- This has been identified as a role that would be ideal for an Early Career Researcher (ECR) to develop their skills alongside an experienced team who can guide and advise.
- Take responsibility for requisitions of consumables, equipment and services.
- Present results and communicate with stakeholders.
