Dundee, Dundee City, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time
Senior Project Manager - Capital Investment

Dundee City (Geog)

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

Senior Project Manager - Capital Investment

It's not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it's what's behind every job here.

Our work keeps Scotland's water flowing, from reservoir to tap – and from sewer to treatment plant. Do your bit by joining us as a Senior Project Manager at the East Hub in Dundee.

What you'll do

As a Senior Project Manager within the East Hub, you'll keep Capital Investment projects in the East of Scotland running smoothly – from the plans that meet our goals, to running workshops that help us pinpoint our 'what next'.

You'll be leading the charge in achieving Scottish Water's Strategic Ambitions along with building those crucial relationships with key internal and external players.

Projects could include upgrading infrastructure to meet the challenges of climate change, through to developing brand new ways of delivering our service. You'll handle project reviews and reporting, so we can learn what works best and keep on delivering more for Scotland. It's all in a day's work.

You'll keep projects moving forward through governance approvals, preparing all the necessary papers and supporting information. You'll review monthly reports with the team and partners, including out-turn costs, milestone completion dates and timely resource demands.

You'll make sure we're following all the rules – governance, health and safety, quality, and environmental regulations, and that we are fully compliant when it comes to CDM Regulations.

You'll set the tone for your team, building a strong culture that chimes with the aims of Scottish Water and delivers on project targets. You'll also act as a role model and mentor to help team members grow their skills with development plans and coaching.

You'll drive and manage the process that makes projects come to life, from planning to construction to commissioning. We're talking meeting deadlines and commercial criteria, quality standards and industry best practices.

What you'll bring:

A hands-on project manager, you'll have a record of successful Capital Investment programme delivery. You'll know your way around business change projects, construction health and safety, customer engagement and financial management.

You'll work closely with local authorities, SEPA, customers and community members, so you'll need to be someone who's good at networking and building strong working relationships. Making friends and influencing people is just what you do. There's no formal qualification for that.

You are results driven with a focus on budget and quality. Change doesn't scare you – in fact, you're the one suggesting new policies and procedures for better results, driving improvements.

A driving licence is non-negotiable. You'll be based at the East Hub in Dundee, but you'll need your hi vis on standby for regular site visits.

What you'll get:

While the work we do is important, we know it's not the only thing that matters. That's why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

This is a full time (37 hours per week) role, Monday to Friday. You'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working. For your future, there's our pension (the 'know-what-you'll-get-when-you-retire' kind), and life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

This role will be a Grade 8. If you're new to Scottish Water, you'll join us on a starting salary of £48,900. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £68,510.

If you're interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we'll be accepting applications until midnight on Friday 23 August 2024.

A few final things worth knowing...

Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you're interested in this job, but don't tick all the boxes, apply anyway We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don't rule yourself out

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We're very used to making adjustments, so please don't be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it's important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don't already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.

Finally (finally), candidates who haven't submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won't need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
