We're looking for an Interim Finance Director to join our team in our Manchester studio. This role will be an integral part of the finance function within CIG. To plan, organise and control the finance function following the strategic leadership of CIG's CFO ensuring that all statutory and legal compliances are met in full and all external financial relationships are maintained to a high standard.

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We're currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. This contract is initially for 3 months, but there may be an opportunity for this to extend.

What does a Finance Director do at CIG?

  • Organize and manage the UK Finance Team (extending to 6 people and growing).
  • Work with the US and Canadian Finance teams to co-ordinate worldwide activities, reporting and analysis.
  • Production of UK Group and Worldwide Monthly Management Accounts and Analysis (including distribution to divisional heads responsible for their individual budgets and performance).
  • Leading UK group 'Big-4' audit including preparation of Year-end accounts, notes and analysis and tax computation planning (including tax credit claims).
  • Rolling and updating the Operating Budget including O/H cost analysis/control.
  • Helping to lead the implementation of a new accounts and time recording system.
  • Preparation and submission of Sales Tax list reports and other government reports as required.
  • KPI production, management and monitoring, including cost allocation by function and product.
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable analysis and credit control management.
  • Regular cash-flow forecasting (inc PO system).
  • Manage the time related positioning of all related resources to achieve daily/weekly requirements from the finance department.

What do we expect from our Finance Director?

  • ACA or equivalent qualification – at least 5-7 years post qualification experience and 3-4 years minimum experience in industry (as opposed to practice).
  • Direct games industry experience is not required but experience of high volume, transactional businesses is advantageous.
  • Previous experience of managing/developing a high performing finance function.
  • Is comfortable with analysing large volumes of data, being able to distil and articulate your findings into actionable insights.
  • Strong all-rounder. Comfortable in precise reporting of actuals and consolidation and preparation of forward-looking budgets and forecasts.
