Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company (CMBC) is one of the leading, historic brewers in the UK. Formed out of a joint venture between Carlsberg UK and Marston's PLC, we combine over 300 years of shared values, history, and heritage in UK brewing.

We are now recruiting for a Junior Laboratory Technician to join us. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager this role will train you to be responsible for Conduct microbiological and chemical sampling and analysis, support with sensory panels and training sessions. Assist with calibration and required maintenance of lab equipment as required. As an entry level position within the QA department, all training and development will be provided. You'll will have ideally just finished your A Levels with a focus on science and be looking to start your career in the brewing/food safety/quality industry.

Do you have?

  • Science A Levels required as a minimum
  • Self-motivated, confident, and enthusiastic with strong organisational skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving

Experience and Key Attributes:

  • Chemical and microbiological samples to be taken and analysed according to the sample plan
  • Carry out general duties within the lab
  • Carry out the running of sensory sessions and assist with sensory training
  • Calibration and maintenance of QA instrumentation within the lab and production
  • Recording data entry and reporting of analysis
  • Take part in writing and co-ordinating effective and replicable SOPs/OPLs that provide consistency of approach and are validated and verified through auditing
  • To ensure quality labs are kept in a high level of hygiene and 5S standards are maintained
  • Involvement in laboratory purchasing and stock control
