About the Role
The Data Privacy Technical Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of Diageo's approach to data privacy. This role involves helping Diageo's business teams unlock technology and data usage in alignment with legal requirements and Diageo values: overseeing the implementation and maintenance of data privacy policies, procedures, and controls; ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations; and monitoring and reporting on data privacy risks and incidents.
The Data Privacy Technical Operations Manager will sit in the Global Data Privacy team, working closely with the Data Privacy Programme Lead and other members of the team. They will also work with business partners from Digital and Technology, to ensure that Diageo's data privacy programme is embed & aligned with key business objectives and meets the expectations consumers, regulators, and partners. The successful person will have strong operational and project management skills, a solid understanding of data privacy and emerging trends in the digital, technology and data landscape.
Responsibilities
The Data Privacy Technical Operations Manager will be results-driven to assist in ongoing development of:
Data management to facilitate compliant and secure collection and processing of data.
The normalisation of data usage and data sharing.
Making informed decisions on how to improve privacy by design & future business outcomes.
The role will also include working to ensure that Diageo has a strong reputation among key partners (e.g., employees, customers, consumers and regulators) for being responsible custodians of data.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Global Data Privacy team, establishing and maintaining the following capabilities:
Support the establishment and maintenance of a fit-for-purpose data privacy capability within Diageo:
- Digitization of data privacy compliance metrics and key performance indicators identifying insights and raising gaps or risks.
- Review and provide privacy guidance for compliance with NIST 2.0 Cybersecurity framework.
- Work closely with Technology teams and other privacy team members, as well as broader partners across Diageo and externally, to achieve Diageo's digital and data ambitions.
- Coordinate and implement data privacy operational activities as they relate to Digital & Technology, such as policy reviews, data subject rights requests, data incident notifications, crisis management drills / stats, data protection impact assessments, vendor risk assessments, and data privacy audits.
- Work with partners to maintain data privacy documentation, such as data inventories, data flow maps, data retention schedules, consent records, and privacy notices.
- Support the development and implementation of data privacy initiatives and projects that enable Diageo's data-driven strategy and innovation, while ensuring compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
- Research and analyse data privacy trends, developments, and best practices in the technology and data space, providing insights and recommendations to the Data Privacy team and business stakeholders.
- Design and deliver data privacy training and awareness programmes for different audiences and levels, using various methods and channels, to increase data privacy knowledge and skills across Diageo.

To be successful in role, you'll:
- Have five years of experience working in technology and/or security/cyber functions.
- Possess working knowledge of data protection and risk management principles and practices.
- Demonstrate good work ethic and ability to fulfil their responsibilities with limited supervision while maintaining effective communications with stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience working with global teams and a track record of collaborating effectively.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities.
- CIPM qualification would be advantageous.
