Applications are invited for two permanent full-time Finance Assistants working Accounts Receivable Team within Finance Services.

Duties will include working as a member of a team with shared responsibility for providing a flexible and responsive Accounts Receivable /Sales Ledger service.

Other duties will include providing financial administration support within the team, completing a range of routine tasks to meet operational and customer service requirements.

Candidates should be educated to GCSE level (minimum of 5 at grades A-C including English and Maths), NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject or possess equivalent experience. Candidates should also have experience in the use of Microsoft Office Applications.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor.

Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.

Purpose of the Job

To work as a member of a team, with shared responsibility for providing a flexible and responsive Accounts Receivable /Sales Ledger service on campus. To provide financial administration support within the team, completing a range of routine tasks to meet operational and customer service requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other team members to undertake a variety of financial administration tasks as directed, sharing responsibility for providing a flexible and responsive service.
  • Be an active member of the wider Finance team, building & maintaining good working relationships with other members of the team and to ensure an understanding of priorities and deadlines.
  • Complete work in an accurate and timely manner and financial data is processed and reported on in accordance with statutory and University requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of, and work to, agreed service standards for the team.
  • Provide cover within the department where necessary.
  • Deal with day-to-day enquiries from students in relation to fees and accommodation charges via email, phone and in person.
  • Collection of student tuition and halls fees in accordance with University procedures.
  • Assist in the monitoring of instalment plans and contacting students who are in default.
  • Ensure banner records are maintained and updated.
  • Initiate and prepare student and sponsor invoices, including issuing reminder letters.
  • Cash handling.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

  • Educated to GCSE level (minimum of 5 at grades A*-C including English and Maths), or NVQ level (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject, or possess equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within a finance related function.
  • Experience of working with finance systems.

Skills/Abilities

Essential:

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people.
  • Responds appropriately to queries and requests ensuring that information is conveyed accurately and promptly in a professional and approachable manner.
  • Able to manage workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Committed to self-development.

Desirable:

  • Able to be proactive and identify and recommend improvements to processes and procedures.
  • The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this role. If applicants are not able to speak / write in Welsh at present, there are many opportunities to learn if the successful candidate wishes to do so.
