London, Greater London, United Kingdom King's College London Full time

About us:

The immigration compliance team at King's undertakes a vital role to ensure compliance with the immigration rules and the university's sponsorship obligations for our international staff. To ensure we attract and retain an outstanding international workforce we are recruiting new staff members to support the demand.

The Compliance Associate will take full oversight of the duties associated with Home Office/UKVI compliance and will provide advice and guidance to staff and client departments on immigration issues.

About you:

You will offer a support service that ensures compliance in the recruitment and visa sponsorship processes in line with Home Office requirements. You will handle large volumes of enquiries from candidates, staff and managers related to visa and immigration matters. As a team member with good customer-focused ability to communicate effectively, you will already have existing knowledge of Home Office systems, regulations and requirements in either a previous education or workplace industry. You will be required to attend the office a minimum of two days a week.

You will be required to assist with the management of the university's sponsorship of migrant workers under the Skilled Worker and Government Authorised Exchange routes of the points-based immigration system, via the Sponsorship Management System (SMS). The function involves assessment of the qualification criteria for sponsorship, the requesting and obtaining of relevant documents and evidence required for sponsorship and the issuing of sponsorship certificates.

You will report migrant activity where necessary on the SMS system and to assist with the monitoring and renewal of the university's allocation of sponsorship certificates. Beyond this, you will need to: track and monitor the leave to remain and immigration status of all migrant workers across the university; deal with queries on immigration issues in a timely manner from a variety of sources on a range of immigration issues; modify, maintain and update the relevant record fields on HR systems regarding employee's immigration status and leave to remain details; and liaise with other HR teams in relation to immigration and sponsorship issues.

This is a full time post and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

  2. Knowledge of Higher Education working practices and procedures in an HR and/or compliance function
