London, Greater London, United Kingdom McDermott Full time

Company Overview:

People power our future. That is why advancing a dynamic, inclusive environment, where everyone grows and thrives is critically important to us.

Our ingenuity fuels daily life. Together, we've forged some of the most trusted partnerships across the energy value chain to make what was once just an idea a reality: laying subsea infrastructure thousands of feet below sea level, installing offshore platforms hundreds of miles from shore, and using our expertise to design and build offshore wind infrastructure.

For more than 100 years, we've been making the impossible possible. Today, we're driving the energy transition with more than 30,000 of the brightest minds across 54 countries.

Here, what you do matters.

Job Overview:

The CECO is responsible for developing, leading, and monitoring the company's global Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Program, seeking to continuously make the program more effective to prevent and address compliance matters across all Company assets and employees including McDermott's offices, yards, project sites, and vessels.

The CECO identifies ethics, compliance, and legal risks, emerging risks, and priorities; provides strategic guidance to address concerns; and recommends and implements relevant initiatives to ensure an effective E&C program and integrity-based culture.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Leading the global E&C team to ensure efficient day-to-day operation of McDermott's E&C Program
  • Ensuring company-wide awareness of the Code of Business Conduct and proper conduct and compliance with respect to anti-corruption, anti-harassment, gifts & entertainment, conflicts of interest, sanctions, antitrust, trade compliance, data privacy, and other compliance matters
  • Developing, monitoring, and managing E&C policies and procedures to prevent illegal or unethical conduct
  • Continued development and implementation of the global Speak-up Program, including the ethics helpline intake program and corresponding investigation process
  • Collaboration with internal audit on investigations and compliance related matters
  • Collaboration with HR on workplace investigation matters, such as allegations of discrimination, favoritism, and retaliation
  • Collaboration with other teams within the Sustainability & Governance function and other departments within the company, to address compliance matters, awareness, and reporting
  • Training activities, including mandatory annual E&C training and certification, and development of tailored training modules for specific employee groups
  • Third-party due diligence process for all high-risk third parties, such as sales and process agents, joint venture partners, and third parties located in high-risk jurisdictions
  • Ensuring that E&C processes are supported as relevant by effective, secure, and cost-efficient systems
  • Overseeing and directing external counsel as appropriate for E&C matters
  • Quarterly E&C reporting to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors as to the operation and effectiveness of compliance efforts

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum 12 years relevant work experience, preferably obtained from an in-house Legal/E&C department with a multinational corporation, a law enforcement agency, or a law firm, including E&C policy development, investigations and training
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices and key E&C legislation such as the US FCPA, the UK Bribery Act, and other similar regulations
  • Law degree strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, communication, and leadership skills
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
