A Permanent position has arisen within the Regeneration and Community Services Directorate for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Team Manager in developing the Department's expertise in all aspects of structural property maintenance, assisting with the development of the division's expertise in planned / reactive maintenance procedures and asbestos management regarding properties within the Authority.

The role will involve carrying out design works in relation to minor works and capital projects specific to building assets at new and refurbished properties at various portfolios within the Authority. This will include carrying out building surveys including preparation of drawings / specifications in line with Building Surveyors requirements and placing relevant orders to comply with Authorities Procurement Policy. This will involve working closely with clients, contractors, and other various technical teams. The role will also involve working with colleagues in Regeneration to manage compliance of buildings with contractual terms of Tenancy agreements, and report breaches to senior management for follow-up action. It will also involve working closely with all other portfolio leads i.e Education, Aneurin Leisure Trust etc.

The successful candidate will also lead on the development of the Division's expertise in all aspects of statutory testing in order to implement a testing regime, so that the Authority meets its statutory requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist with the development of the Division's expertise in planned and reactive maintenance procedures regarding properties within the Authority.
  • Deliver minor works and small capital projects specific to Building Assets properties at various portfolios within the Authority (e.g. Education, Social Services, Aneurin Leisure etc.). This will involve working closely with clients, contractors and other various technical teams.

  • Place relevant orders to comply with Authorities Procurement Policy
  • Work closely with DLO section / Building Facilities Officers & H&S Officers with regards to minor and reactive works
  • Implement the Division's responsibilities for Health & Safety.
  • To comply with the relevant sections of the Authority's policy statement on Health, Safety and Welfare at Work.
  • To adhere to the principles of the Corporate Equality Policy and ensure commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.
  • To undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time, by Management
