Our Information and Library Services Directorate delivers award winning IT services and support, library, academic and digital skills and learning enhancement to staff and students across the university. Our digital mission is to ensure everyone in our community is equipped to effectively use digital services, data and technology with confidence, efficiency and creativity in their learning, teaching, research and organisational support.

This is an apprenticeship role leading to a level 3 qualification (A-level equivalent). The staff member will collaborate with experienced colleagues to gain in-depth understanding and experience of customer support within an academic library.

Working on the library floors, the Customer Support apprentice is a campus-based post that provides help, support and advice for library users; this role requires strong communication and conflict resolution abilities, confidence in enforcing library rules while maintaining a courteous attitude, good observation skills to identify potential study disruptions and a commitment to foster a productive academic study environment.

The post-holder will provide a welcoming and efficient service to students and visitors, creating a positive impression of Stockwell Street Library. They will effectively and proactively manage challenging behaviours and situations, in a calm and professional manner, ensuring the library environment is conducive to study and learning.
