London, Greater London, United Kingdom London School of Economics and Political Science Full time

LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university

For this post, we particularly welcome applications from candidates from minority ethnic groups.

Salary is competitive and no less than £40,229 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for two years with potential to renew for a third year

This post is tenable from September 2024.

LSE100, LSE's flagship interdisciplinary course taken by all first-year undergraduates, is recruiting a creative educator with a commitment to innovative teaching to join our team. LSE100 is an internationally recognised, sector-leading course which introduces LSE students to the School's mission, building their capacity to tackle complex problems through research-rich education and the exploration of transformative global challenges.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team teaching on the course, contributing to the design and development of course materials, as well as developing their own research agenda. They will be part of an enthusiastic community of interdisciplinary educators and will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues on educational initiatives both within LSE100 and across the School. The successful candidate will also carry out administrative duties while fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for LSE100 students.

LSE100 offers three themes for students to choose from as their focus of study on the course: How can we control AI?, How can we transform our climate futures?, and How can we create a fair society? The ability to demonstrate interest or expertise across multiple themes is an asset for this post. For this post, we are looking for individuals who have an interest in teaching on our How can we transform our climate futures? theme, and whose research interests connect to one of the other themes.

Candidates should have completed or be close to completing a PhD in a social science or related discipline. Relevant teaching and assessment experience, the ability to work closely with and learn from colleagues, and excellent communication and organisational skills, are also essential. The other criteria that will be used in shortlisting for this post can be found in the person specification which is attached to this vacancy on LSE's recruitment system.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, and excellent training and development opportunities.

For further information about the post, please see the how to apply document, job description and the person specification.
