We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated researcher with strong coding and analytical skills to work within Prof Marco Springmann's team on modeling the diet-related health implications of food and agricultural policies. This is an opportunity to join a new multi-disciplinary research team on food systems analysis mainly based at the UCL Institute for Global Health in London.
About the role
The Research Assistant (Health Modeller) will undertake analyses of the health impacts of food and agricultural policies at regional, national, and sub-national levels, including for European countries and cities. The post holder will maintain and further develop an existing health model that links changes in dietary and weight-related risks to changes in mortality and link the model to agriculture and economic models to contribute to policy assessments, e.g., of the EU Green Deal.
This role provides excellent opportunities for career development, including support to develop research ideas and apply for grants, contribute to related projects and teaching, work together with other members of the research team, and collaborate with and have placements with international partners.
This post is based at 30 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1DP with opportunities for hybrid working in line with UCL Policy and project requirements.
This post is available from 01 September 2024 for 36 months in the first instance.
Salary range: £37,332 to £39,980 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.

The candidate must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to present research proposals and results and represent the research group at meetings.
This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with:
- Relevant experience in health modelling including technical knowledge.
- Experience in other relevant model-based analyses of food systems or global health systems.
- Strong proficiency in data handling.
