About this opportunity

The Public Health and Protection team are looking to recruit a full time Housing Enforcement Officer who will work across Cumberland area. The role will include a range of private sector housing enforcement work but dealing primarily with service requests to the department around the private rented sector, including dealing with landlord/tenant complaints, property inspections and requests for advice and information about the private rented sector regulations and housing standards.

The suitable candidate will need to have experience of working within a local government or housing setting and ideally some understanding of local government enforcement and of building construction. Experience of carrying out inspections under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and knowledge around private rented sector housing regulations and policy is also an advantage. The candidate must also have a good understanding of working with external partners and experience of being part of multi-disciplinary team.

The post offers the successful applicant the opportunity to complete a diploma in Private Sector Housing Interventions, a recognised professional qualification from the Charted Institute of Housing.
