About the Position:
Are you dedicated to ensuring building safety and compliance in a lively and historical area? Do you have a sharp attention to detail and the ability to interpret building regulations? If yes, there's an exciting opportunity available for a Building Surveyor to join a client's team as a Temporary Building Inspector in Carlisle.

As a Temporary Building Inspector, you will play a vital role in upholding regulatory standards and ensuring the structural integrity of buildings in Carlisle.

From conducting thorough inspections to collaborating with stakeholders, you will have the chance to significantly impact the safety and quality of life in the community.


Main Responsibilities:


Reviewing deposited plans and Building Notices for compliance with Building Regulations and allied legislation (including assessment of estimated costs).

On-site inspection of ongoing work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
Maintaining records using the Section's 'Acolaid' computer system.
Negotiating with various parties such as owners, architects, and builders.
Enforcing Building Regulations.
Addressing dangerous structures and overseeing demolition.
Ensuring customer satisfaction and promoting Local Authority Building Control.

Staying updated on changes within the field, participating in training activities, and cooperating with the Council.

Promoting excellence in customer service, continuous improvement, and equality of opportunity within the context of cultural diversity.

Establishing effective communication with staff, colleagues, and customers to enhance service quality.

Promoting best practices in meeting Health & Safety requirements and complying with relevant legislation.

Health and Safety:


Promoting best practices in meeting Health & Safety requirements and complying with relevant legislation.

Ensuring adherence to the Council's health and safety policies and receiving necessary training in health and safety procedures.
Identifying and managing job-related risks through risk assessments, internal controls, and training to prioritize health and safety.

Requirements:
Full membership MCABE, MCIOB, or MRICS
Either actively working towards or holds a minimum of a Class 2F registration with the Building Safety Regulator

Experience Needed:

Reviewing applications for major projects' compliance with Building Regulations, including those involving extended regulatory guidance such as fire-engineered solutions, Building Bulletins, etc.

Handle applications from receipt to determination independently;

Prepare statements of evidence and serve as an expert witness in Court when necessary for enforcing Building Regulations.
