The Technical Operations Scientist for Leica Biosystems is responsible for routine technical laboratory experiments and procedures, documentation of results and maintaining records/logs, Follows good laboratory practices and procedures that comply with regulatory agencies. Ensures laboratory environment and practices comply with guidelines set forth by company and regulatory agencies.

This position is part of the Technical Operations located in Newcastle and will an On-Site role. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

You will be a part of Technical Operations and report to the Lead Scientist responsible for Stability Studies If you thrive in a fast paced, supporting role and want to work to build a world-class organization—read on.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform routine laboratory techniques including microtomy and immunohistochemistry and a ssist in planning and preparation activities
  • Organisation of relevant documentation (electronic and paper). Including those from Stability Studies and Cutting
  • Ensure Laboratory tasks are completed according to agreed timelines and e nsure units are aliquoted and stored in the designated locations in a timely manner
  • Ordering of chemicals and consumables used in the Laboratory and m aintain stock levels The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Experience of GMP and GDP
  • Good organisational skills and time management
  • High attention to detail

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Relevant laboratory experience
  • Basic Understanding of immunohistochemical procedures
  • Histology experience including microtomy , manual / automated IHC staining and slide screening
