The sector has doubled in the past 10 years, and that growth is set to continue.

The Private Housing Standards Team regulates the private rented sector in Sheffield; we advise and enforce on property conditions and management in those homes.

Project Officers within the Team will have responsibilities for assisting with the overall delivery, management, and co-ordination of the work of the service.



They will also take lead responsibility for the effective development and delivery of specific projects and programmes as identified by Team Managers.

Current projects and key service delivery areas include;

Delivery and implementation of a new online application portal for House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) licensing and Snug (student property scheme) services.

The delivery of the recently announced Healthy Homes Project which is funded via DLUHC (Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities) to support the service in the enforcement of damp and mould in the private sector.

The development of new landlord and tenant forums to offer education and support. This is to be delivered by 31st March 2025 as part of the Healthy Homes Project

The successful applicant will need to be able to:

  • Produce clear and concise reports and other material for a wide a range of internal and external partners
  • Manage the production and distribution of a regular newsletter for stakeholders, highlighting the activities and achievements of the service.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, briefing notes and other information for colleagues, senior management, landlords and tenants
  • Manage and undertake consultation on appropriate projects
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Service Plan
  • Monitor and report on progress and performance
  • Assist in the development of new private housing initiatives including the submission of bids for funding from a range of sources
  • Analyse data and have good research and analytical capabilities and be able to use these skills to inform service development
  • Successfully manage a work programme with multiple priorities and have a track record of project management and delivery
  • Attend in person and online engagement forums with landlord and tenant groups
