An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join the Project Team of the Wellcome Trust funded Institutional Award "Inclusion Diversity and Equality of Access" (IDEA) Project. This project aims to affect a culture change by evidencing the positive impact of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) awareness and training.

You will play a vital role in supporting the data gathering and data interpretation of the IDEA project. This research will be undertaken in the Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) at the University of East Anglia (UEA).

As the RA you be undertaking research to capture and improve levels of EDI knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours within our research environment. You will work with the IDEA team in collaboration with learned societies, diversity experts, the UEA research community especially those from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, as well as colleagues from across the Norwich Research Park, and People and Culture Division to contribute to the development of education, training, and skills offerings in EDI. This will involve supporting the development of training interventions for research staff in cultural competency and bystander intervention.

You will be involved, as a researcher, in delivering the intervention elements in collaboration with colleagues from relevant areas, and most significantly in gathering the data to evaluate the success of the intervention in terms of improving EDI knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours. This evaluation will involve mixed methods approaches including questionnaires, focus groups, and one-to-one qualitative interviews. You will also be expected to contribute to the development of inclusive design and data collection practice, the development of a guidance framework and contribute to the writing reports and papers.

What you will bring:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare, clinical research, psychology) or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Skills and knowledge relating to equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Ability to collect and interpret mixed methods data.
  • Ability to write a wide range of texts e.g., case studies, conference abstracts, peer review papers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

There are two full-time posts available on a fixed term basis for two years.
