About UsThe Harris Academy Beckenham is a vibrant Science and Enterprise Academy at the heart of the community in Beckenham. There is a culture of high expectations for every student, which underpins every development in the Academy. The Academy opened in September 2011 on the site of the predecessor school Kelsey Park Sports College. We have converted to a co-educational Academy, welcoming female students from Year 7. We are increasingly the secondary school of choice in our area, due to and have a thriving student community, including a rapidly increasing sixth form. We secured a judgement of 'Outstanding' from OFSTED in July 2017 which recognized our relentless pursuit of excellence in all areas.
Main Areas of ResponsibilityYour responsibilities will include:
Supervising and supporting identified students, in 1:1, group or whole class situations, ensuring their safety and access to learningAssisting in the development of appropriate resources, schemes of work and teaching strategies, working with the teacher to ensure the provision supports each identified student's learning needsAssisting in evaluating identified students' progress through agreed assessment activitiesProviding detailed and regular feedback to teachers on students' achievement, progress and needsLeading small group sessions and interventions as appropriateAttending to the students' personal needs where requiredSupporting with behaviour management, using appropriate strategies in line with academy policyContributing to creating a purposeful and supportive learning environmentUndertaking structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes as appropriate, adjusting activities to ensure achievement of learning goalsQualifications & ExperienceWe would like to hear from you if you have:
Qualifications to degree level or equivalentSome knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behavioursKnowledge of some of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgroundsAwareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace.Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students.Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels.Experience of managing and being responsible for own workload.
