The role:

You'll be the first finance hire at Hook, and will play a key role in establishing the finance function. In this pivotal role you will work closely with our CEO and senior leadership team and will be instrumental in helping us through our next phase of growth, keeping the operation running smoothly, championing finance in the business, with potential to build this area out as we scale.

Responsibilities:
  • The finance responsibilities at Hook so far have been split across our founder, ops team and external accountant. You'll play a big part in reconciling this and creating a function that scales with us as a business.
  • You'll oversee and manage all day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable, revenue invoicing and collection, expense and payment management, bank reconciliations, recording of all transactions in Xero, payroll processing and compliance
  • Work with teams in Hook to manage budgets as we grow
  • You'll work closely with our 3rd party accountant, with potential to build a small, high
  • performing finance function as we scale
  • You'll prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow) and
  • any other reporting requirements
  • Manage monthly / quarterly regulatory filings and year end processes, including
  • tax, VAT, PAYE, Companies House
  • You'll build and implement the scalable accounting / reporting processes, systems
  • and controls
  • You'll lead regular and ad-hoc financial analysis, cash flow analysis and work closely with leadership on forecasting and budgeting
    Requirements

    Who are we looking for?
    • You're a fully qualified accounting professional (CIMA / ACA / ACCA) with 2-3yrs post-qualification experience ideally in a tech startup
    • You've managed or been part of a finance function in a start up / fast-growing business
    • You have experience of owning the full financial operations and reporting process, with end-to-end responsibility for both P&L and balance sheets
    • You have experience of establishing financial systems and processes
    • You have excellent financial analysis and modeling skills including advanced Excel/Google Sheet skills
    • You're excited by working autonomously in a startup environment and know what it takes to succeed. You're likely to be the only hire in the team for the next 12 months, and that shouldn't intimidate you
