The Computing department is an established and fantastic department which is part of the Applied Learning faculty. It is a well staffed department who is looking to expand further as the popularity of the subject continues to increase. The department has achieved incredible results, 80% grade 4+ at GCSE, with more than half the pupils achieving grade 6+. At KS5, we regularly see similar success, with 100% achieving A*-B in A-level Computing. For BTECs the results continue to be exceptional with 100% achieving D*-M in our single offering and 100% achieving D*D*D*-MMM in our triple offering.

Last year more than a third of all KHS school leavers went to pursue university courses related to subjects offered within the Applied Learning faculty. We want another member of the faculty to be part of our team to build on this success.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Further to the duties and responsibilities listed within the Main Pay Scale Job Description for all teachers at the School, and initially, the post holder is responsible to the Head of Faculty/Department/Leadership Group Line Manager/Headteacher and any other designated Line Manager(s) for the following:

Assist in ensuring a high quality of teaching and learning which meets the needs of all studentsTeaching throughout the age and ability range as directed, including at Sixth Form levelPromote student's interest in and commitment to the subject and help further grow the popularity of Computer Science.Implementing whole school policies (including equal opportunities, health and safety and security)Assist, as a team, identifying underachievement and praising good work and effortImplementing the policies of the Department (including assessment); help, as a team, to continuously develop the DepartmentMaintaining accurate and up-to-date attendance, punctuality and assessment records for all teaching groupsContributing to the general development of the Department; keeping abreast of relevant curriculum developments and assisting in their successful implementation where appropriate to the School/Department's Development PlanSupporting links with Feeder Primary Schools and with colleges of Further and Higher educationParticipate in lesson observation and scrutiny of workSupporting subject related pupil activities (such as educational visits)General assistance with the administration of the DepartmentMaintain high standards of classroom management order and discipline
