Waste Operations Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated manager to join our Environmental Services Team. As a mainly technical role you will be responsible for the operational management of the waste team on a day-to-day basis, although on occasions you will support the Head of Service in planning for future service modelling due to any changes in legislation.
Working as part of a team you will be responsible for managing the Council's high-profile and visible waste and recycling services delivering critical front-line services to Harborough residents. You will need to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of customer service and responsiveness. You will lead on service improvement and development relating to the Waste and Recycling service.
You will support the Head of Service in contract monitoring and management of the outsourced services including Waste and Recycling Services, Commercial Waste Collections and Recycling Haulage. You will act as the key management point of contact between HDC and the contractor(s) on issues that arise.
This fantastic role offers the potential to work flexibly with varied and interesting work, including carrying out site visits and attending meetings. The majority of tasks will involve working co-operatively in a friendly, success driven team, however there will still be the opportunity to shine individually.
If you have experience in managing operational delivery of waste services, people management experience and have working knowledge of contract management and budget monitoring this post is for you.
Through our hybrid working policy, a combination of home and office working is expected, with a greater emphasis on office working during the postholder's first few weeks. You may be required to attend evening meetings from time to time and must hold a full driving licence.
