This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly designed unique service focusing on early intervention in the first 1001 days. The Assistant Team Leader role is to assist the Team Leader with the management, co-ordination and development of a provision of high quality intervention service, which meets the needs of families facing adversity with children in the first 1001 days, in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals and in ensuring that these services meet the needs and maximise the potential of the children and their families whilst complying with professional standards and Council policies and procedures.

Job Details

To assist the Team Leader with the management, co-ordination and development of a provision of high quality intervention service, which meets the needs of families facing adversity with children in the first 1001 days, in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals and in ensuring that these services meet the needs and maximise the potential of the children and their families whilst complying with professional standards and Council policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Must hold, or be in the process of working towards, a BA Childhood Practice or equivalent qualifications that meet the SSSC Registration requirements for this post.

AND

A practice qualification [HNC Childhood Practice or SVQ3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent] as required for SSSC registration.

SSSC registration as a Manager is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the Manager/lead practitioner of a day care of children service section of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration as soon as possible and this must be achieved within six months of your start date.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
(*Where a disability precludes you from obtaining a driving licence, ELC will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.)

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
