Engagement Delivery Manager - Defence

The Role

The Engagement Delivery Manager is within the UK Public Sector will be responsible for the relationship within a major defence client at an executive level for all delivery-related aspects. The candidate will be accountable for the overall delivery across multiple projects for our defence client. They will need to work as part of the leadership team to formulate the strategy and successful delivery of projects and for overall quality, engagement, and adherence to the schedule and budget assigned to the programme.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Run delivery for our defence client and handle project roadblocks.
  • Be accountable for the overall delivery and across multiple projects in the engagement.
  • Help lead internal account operations – these include commercial operations, process, coordination etc.
  • Relationship management; establish and nurture relationships with appropriate client-side peers.
  • Resolve delivery issues; with the ability to understand and handle client expectations to result in an extraordinary client experience.
  • Anchor and drive the steering committee meetings about the delivery status for all projects.
  • Organise regular connects with Clients at VP, CTO and CIO levels for the delivery and to identify new opportunities.
  • Liaise and lead collaboration between service lines to bring in alignment and ensure successful service delivery.
  • Track and support the activities of project teams to ensure quality and timeliness of programme execution.
  • Be responsible for reporting of SLAs, metrics and other critical hygiene factors that impact the account.
  • Devise competitive strategies and tactics to well-position Cognizant and draw alignment with our clients' business drivers.
  • Be able to assist account managers/client partners in related business development activities to grow Cognizant's mindshare and market share in the account.
  • To report to our internal senior management or leadership teams on the overall engagement (across different dimensions like delivery, bid management, staffing, financials etc.).

Essential Skills

  • Experience in delivering projects within the UK defence sector having previously managed an account from a delivery and growth perspective, including industry segments and customer interactions.
  • Fully conversant with UK Defence Rank Structures across all three services and the Civil Service.
  • Experience in delivering technology-driven transformational projects in the defence markets.
  • Excellent client management, relationship building and escalation management skills.
  • The ability to lead on a range of Agile and lean tools and techniques, to coach within and outside of their core team
  • To be innovative and ensure familiarity with the latest digital and technology trends.

Location: Remote (with travel when required)

Security Clearance Level: Successful candidates must be eligible for an SC security clearance.
