We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our team at Cardiff Bus.

This is a permanent role working 37 hours per week.

The role

The postholder will provide real time support and analysis to the Senior Leadership Team and Business Managers, and be a trusted advisor, focused on adding value to the business. Reporting to the Finance Director, with direct responsibility for seven members of staff, including Payroll, Banking, Purchase ledger, Sales Ledger and Cash office.

Key responsibilities

The successful applicant will, manage and oversee the daily operations of the finance department.Lead the analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, and presenting findings to budget holders in a clear and user-friendly way to aid financial and commercial decisions.

You will also manage an end-to-end audit process – acting as the first point of contact for external auditors.Dealing with working capital management and production of cash flow forecasts.

Proactively identify opportunities, raise ideas, and champion process improvements to meet business objectives. Produce monthly management accounts including variance analysis and KPI's and deliver by agreed deadlines. Contribute to preparation of forecasts and budget for all elements of the P&L and Balance Sheet.

Facilitate and participate in regular review meetings with department budget holders to manage costs, advise on performance, and key risks and sensitivities. Liaise with External Auditors and Council to ensure reporting and statutory accounts completed in accordance with company timetable.

You should have the following:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA)
  • A proven track record operating at a management level (middle to senior).
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to delegate and manage the work of others.
  • Evidence excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate and influence effectively at all levels.
  • A hands-on approach.
