Project Engineer - Anaerobic Digestion

Alecto Recruitment is working with a Design and Build company within the Anaerobic Digestion sector that is actively looking to take on a Project Engineer to be the primary technical point of contact within the company, assisting with the new build of AD Facilities.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between the development and delivery teams.
  • Act as the main contact for all project technical matters related to FEED engineering and key design subcontractors, including architects, civil engineers, and process/mechanical/electrical engineers.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve design specifications.
  • Assist the development team with technical deliverables such as site layouts and gas/electrical grid connections.
  • Support the operations team with new acquisitions, focusing on technical integration, health and safety integration, and executing improvement plans.
  • Lead technical and project management efforts for improvements and expansions of newly acquired plants, including installing CO2 capture systems, increasing plant capacity, and overhauling equipment.
  • Manage and maintain the project model/business case, perform economic analysis of equipment selection options, and assess their impact on the business case.
  • Represent the project owner in design review activities, including HAZID, HAZOP, DSEAR, and SIL assessments.
  • Assist the Senior Project Manager with developing and tracking programs and resource schedules, interface with main equipment suppliers, create the WBS, and manage the overall FEED packages.
  • Identify and prioritize key risks, implement mitigation measures, and participate in risk reviews at both project and FEED contractor levels.
  • Generate regular reports and updates on project progress.
  • Promote a culture of project excellence throughout the organization, emphasizing on-time, in-full delivery, risk mitigation, and a strong focus on health and safety.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in a related engineering field, with a solid understanding of basic process engineering and controls.
  • Over 5 years of proven experience as a Project Engineer or Project Development Engineer.
  • In-depth knowledge of process and mechanical engineering throughout the full project lifecycle (including EPC & commissioning), with a strong working knowledge of C&I deployment in projects.
  • Clear and effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to create accountability and lead by example.
  • Proven ability to work safely, direct work safely, ensure the safety of others, and comply with all safety assessment requirements.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
