This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join our school in a lead role in our SEND department, supporting students, their achievements and successes.

The Role

The Lead Learning Support Assistant's (LSA) primary focus will be to work under the professional guidance of the SENDCo & Deputy SENDCo, within an agreed system of supervision in delivering planned interventions and supporting individual students undertaking classroom lessons.

The Lead LSA will be required to lead on identified areas of need within the Learning Support Department and to work as part of a professional team, including teachers, the wider Learning Support Team and other professionals to create bespoke learning opportunities for students.

The Lead LSA will be expected to progress students' learning and to assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment as agreed by the SENDCo and teachers. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or short term for whole classes and monitoring students and assessing, recording and reporting on students' achievement, progress and development.

Hours of work

This role is 36 hours per week Monday to Friday, during term time and INSET days. The start time will be between 7.45am and 8.15am with an unpaid lunchbreak. The actual hours will be agreed with the successful applicant.

The additional week over school terms time will to be used to support school events (usually in the evening), SEND planning and other administrative work. This may be after school including evenings or during the holidays. This will be agreed in advance with the SENDCo.

Carshalton High School for Girls, a member of the Girl's Learning Trust, is a high achieving school in the suburbs of south London. Confirmed as "Good" by Ofsted in January 2023, we achieved our best exam results to date in Summer 2023.
