The Role

YourPoliceUK is looking for a social media and engagement expert who wants a career with purpose.

Established in 2019 to provide factual, trusted advice on UK law, policing, safety, youth rights and issues which affect young people, YourPoliceUK covers a wide range of national policing and youth issues, and your responsibilities may cover content and engagement on subject areas such as violence against women and girls (VAWG) through to the law on E-scooters, via questions around police misconduct, in a varied and broad-based youth engagement and social media management role.

You will have a range of social media management experience, excellent communication skills and a high capacity for factual accuracy and attention to detail as, in this role, you will be responsible for managing, testing, and refining the social media engagement strategy, channel growth and reach and, fundamentally, helping to keep young people across the UK safe.

You will be part of a team that devises, produces, and publishes a wide range of social media content, engages with all inbound contact from young people, and works with partners from across policing, education and the third sector to inform, educate and empower young people so that they can make informed decisions and stay safe.

You'll be required to:

  • Develop and deliver the marketing and advertising strategy, in close consultation with the Project Lead to build followers and meaningful engagement with our target audience.
  • Provide a friendly and approachable social media presence through the expert use of language and tone.
  • Respond to complaints, questions, and calls for service in an accurate, appropriate and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the planning and design of Social Media content, prioritising and promoting high user engagement.
  • Supervise the work of the Digital Engagement Assistant, providing training and development opportunities where appropriate, and ensuring quality of service for all public contact.
  • Create copy for online publication and review the draft copy of the Digital Engagement Assistant, maintaining house style and tone of voice.
  • Keep up to date with the latest social media platform functionality and trends, and effectively communicate them to the wider team.
  • Work closely with the Content Production Officer to contribute to content development though creative meetings, trend scanning, and research.
  • Analyse paid and organic social media data and create reports that demonstrate impact for a variety of audiences.
  • Develop and maintain professional networks with contributing officers and staff from police forces around the UK to help harness user-generated content within our tone and style.
  • Manage policing partner relationships, content boosting arrangements, and publishing schedules, using a combination of business management and social media management software.
  • Deliver briefings, webinars and presentations to the project management team, internal and external stakeholders, and young people in schools and youth clubs.
  • Lead the Youth Advisory Group, facilitating monthly meetings with young people to research their opinions and experiences, and feed this back into our content and engagement strategies, and wider police networks.
  • Work with partner agencies to deliver appropriate support for vulnerable children and young people.
