We are delighted to be recruiting a Senior Community Learning Disability & Autism Nurse to our Eating Disorders service line which includes our services in Norwich, West Norfolk and Great Yarmouth and Waveney. This also includes our Day treatment service, The Light House, and the Avoidant & Restrictive Food Intake Disorder Team (ARFID).

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative service line, to which we aim to enhance our current provision. Our aim is to improve the experience of care for young people with identified learning disabilities, autism, and diagnosable eating disorders / difficulties within our identified population.

The post will be Band 6, full time, fixed term for 18 months with the base being identified as our Central site in Hellesdon, however the candidate would be expected to travel to our other localities.

Main duties of the job

  • Raising awareness of learning disability and its influence on an individual's health and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the education, training and development of other clinical staff and partner agencies.
  • Supporting and developing the Green Light Champions within the service.
  • Provide expert care to patients on their caseload. Providing skilled assessment, treatment, supervision, and consultation within CAMHS.
  • Provide expert advice, support, and guidance to others around expertise in response to requests from individuals, teams, and partner agencies.
  • Provide the appropriate interventions to patients with learning disabilities experiencing mental illness (incorporating NICE Guidelines).
  • Work with assistant psychologists and wider therapies team to monitor the prevalence of LD&A within the whole eating disorders service line and ensure this is reported and recorded correctly within our clinical system.
  • Review and update all service literature to ensure it is fit for purpose with those who access the service and require reasonable adjustments.
  • Embed and utilise the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework to support to people with learning disabilities who are at risk of behaviour that challenges.
  • Support with triage and signposting within the eating disorders service to ensure those with LD&A needs are being met.
  • Build links with existing services such as Community Paediatrics, NCH&C and LD CAMHS across Norfolk & Waveney who support young people with LD&A.
