Halifax, Calderdale, United Kingdom Northpoint Full time

Do you want to join us in improving the lives of children, young people and families?

We have a unique opportunity for a qualified, experienced, and registered health professional to join Northpoint on a permanent contract with a competitive salary. The role will involve working in our modern offices in Halifax alongside a skilled and friendly team to oversee the neurodevelopmental referral pathway. You would also support service development as we continue to improve access and reduce waits.

The role would suit qualified and registered professionals from a range of backgrounds including a nurse, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, clinical psychologist, or other allied health professional.

The option of full-time or part-time working is available.

What you will be doing as our Senior Neurodevelopmental Clinician

Northpoint employ a team of clinicians and support staff who provide the single point of access into Calderdale Open Minds CAMHS, which is known as the 'First Point of Contact.' This is the entry point for referrals requesting neurodevelopmental assessments, as well as mental health referrals.

The primary purpose of the role is to oversee the neurodevelopmental referral process. The process is designed to determine clinical suitability of children and young people for autism and/or ADHD assessments utilising the voice of the young person, parent/carer and key professionals such as school staff. The role also involves overseeing the process of communicating referral outcomes to families.

Neurodevelopmental assessments are not provided by Northpoint, and the clinical suitability process is mainly conducted by phone and online. However, the role has the potential to include direct face-to-face work with some children and families in order to better determine suitability for assessment, and to ensure their needs are fully understood and met.

The post will involve supporting and supervising other staff to help develop their skills and experience in supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions.

You will work closely with colleagues in the neurodevelopmental assessment service at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Calderdale is a trailblazer in the way it has embraced the NHS Right to Choose/Patient Choice initiative, so you will also engage with other key independent providers of neurodevelopmental assessments.

You'll play a key role in ensuring that children, young people and families experience high quality, safe and evidence-based care as they move through the system.

Why us?

Northpoint take a positive, inclusive and innovative approach to supporting children, young people and families, including those with neurodevelopmental conditions. We are playing a key role in contributing to service transformation and service user involvement on a local and regional level. Working alongside families, parent/carer groups and other stakeholders, we are embracing digital technology and choice-based approaches to managing demand in a timely and responsive way. We take a needs-led approach and are focused on supporting people to 'wait well.'

The organisation is committed to staff development. You will be supported to maintain your professional registration, receive clinical supervision, and contribute to the local multi-disciplinary team.
