This is done through the execution of design contracts as well as life time management through build, assembly, commissioning and test. Additionally the department provides technical support to the installed units during outages for service and problem resolution on operational issues.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

Layout design using Catia V5 of turbine rotors, casings, glands, bearings, valves, pedestals, instrumentation, interfaces, tube bundles, waterboxes.

Basic stress analysis involving hand calculations or spreadsheets.

Materials selection.

Design for manufacturing (casting, forging, fabrication) and assembly.

Specify the essential requirements for the production of manufacturing and assembly documentation.

Understand rotating equipment's safe operation, installation and maintenance needs.

Report writing, drawing checking, presentation material.

Design reviews, customer presentations and meetings.

Qualifications/Requirements

Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.

5 plus years of design engineering.

Good knowledge of Catia v.5

Technical knowledge of rotating equipment, turbines preferable.

Desired Characteristics

Able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.

Can commit to and keep tight deadlines.

Strong oral and written communication.

Security Clearance

This work is undertaken with UK Defence customers which will require any individual applying for the role to meet the criteria and to attain SC Level Clearance. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided.
