Oliver Wyman is now looking for an experienced Carbon Accountant to join our brand-new 3D Carbon Accounting team, in either London or Munich

The Opportunity

3D Carbon Accounting is a new service in the Climate and Sustainability platform at Oliver Wyman. It is founded by a multi-disciplinary team with experience in carbon accounting, analytics, software development, data management and regulatory reporting.

We combine world-class consulting with industry-best tools and know-how to help our clients meet their scope 3 regulatory reporting requirements and plan their decarbonisation strategy

About you:

You'll have previous experience in carbon accounting, especially working with

customers, assisting pitches, delivering projects and training others in the discipline.

Specific of the role:

This is a full time specialist role within the 3D Carbon Accounting team -

Quantitative / Technical topics:


• Develop and extend carbon accounting models and methodologies.


• Calculating CO2e footprints on company (CCF) and product level (PCF) according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol with a strong focus on CCFs.


• Researching correct emission factors (EFs) to convert input data into emissions. Taking into account aspects like land-use-change, biogenic emissions, setting the correct system boundaries regarding the selection of EFs etc.


• Running the calculations for Scope 3, sanitizing data and preparing insights on the driving factors of the CCF.


• Deriving reduction strategies for CO2e emissions, mainly by testing and calculating the

effects of different levers (switching from grey to green electricity, replacing supplier A with supplier B, switching transport modes for the logistics, altering input material from e.g. virgin aluminum to recycling aluminum, incentivizing job tickets to reduce commuting by car...).


• Working with the Business Impact Manager to deliver projects on time and on budget.

Qualitative / Communicative topics:


• Supporting our 3D and consulting team with pre-sale meetings, client pitches, etc.


• Working with our 3D and consulting team to set up project plans to organize the data collection and evaluation for complex projects (manufacturing companies with multiple production, sales and service sites).


• Running or (more likely) supporting the project from the kick-off and jour fixes to the results presentation. To include meetings and discussions with the client, supporting our consulting team in keeping the client happy and to fill data gaps.


• Being a contact person for OW people and customers on various questions.


• Upselling services to clients, answering critical questions from OW people and our customers.


• Conducting research on new initiatives like CSRD as directed by our Research Expert.
