Introduction:
We are looking to build up a team around a young gentleman, to support with a long-term aim of moving out of the family home and into his own accommodation.

We would like to find someone who can develop a trusting relationship with him, based primarily in the family home to begin with.

This person is a complex young man who has Autism, specifically PDA. This results in some significant anxieties, sensory sensitivities, including what would present as OCD behaviours.

He has a particular keen interest in online/video gaming. A shared interest in this regard would be advantageous.

You would need to have experience of the PDA profile of Autism and demonstrate a working knowledge of supporting someone with this diagnosis.

You would be a positive, emotionally intelligent person and excited by the opportunity to spend time with someone and make a difference to their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Spending time and building a positive relationship in the family home.
  • Connect with this person initially through a shared interest of video gaming.
  • Progress to accessing the community, focussing on areas of interest and enjoyment.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience and awareness of PDA & Autism is essential.
  • The role would come with comprehensive training, but we are looking for someone who has experience working in this sector. Relevant NVQ qualifications are desirable.
  • A positive and patient demeanour.
  • A genuine desire to spend time with a person and assist with their needs and aspirations.
