Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the Lincolnshire area, for a Pensions Specialist to join their team. Please find below further details with regards to this role.

Job Role:

  • Assist the Payroll, HR Administration and Pensions Manager in the provision of a comprehensive pensions service to all employees of Local Government, Teachers and Fire Pension Schemes.
  • Act as expert for the organisation to ensure that the administration service provided is meeting agreed quality standards through a customer-focused approach.
  • Assist the Payroll, HR Administration and Pensions Manager in implementation of new systems and procedures in line with new legislation.
  • Ensure Pension Scheme Regulations and policies are implemented and adhered to, and conditions of the Service Level Agreement are met in meeting weekly, monthly, and annual deadlines.

Main Responsibilities

  • To act as Pensions Expert to the management and wider team and provide support and assistance to all team members.
  • Provide specialist information, interpretation and expert guidance to managers and staff at all levels on all aspects of the Pension Schemes.
  • To provide accurate and timely provision of all estimates, pensionable pay, Additional years/Additional pension illustrations, pensionable service, contribution levels, effects of individuals planned changes, application processes, opting in and out of the scheme, leaving the scheme options and schemes regulations.
  • Process all Pensions data including variable deductions and payments, new starters and leavers including all retirements to meet pay cycle and pension scheme administrator deadlines, and the maintenance of complex pension related data and information.
  • Process Pension data according to statutory requirements to meet monthly/yearly deadlines.
  • Process of Pensions forms including but not limited to opt in and out outs, AVC and APC requests.
  • Complete end of year processes to ensure all statutory requirements are met.
  • Keep up to date with all changes to the Pension Schemes, pensions legislation, pension provisions and developments in pensions.

Candidate Requirements

  • Recognised Pension Qualification, or NVQ Level 4 diploma or equivalent level of experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Local Government / Teachers / Fire Pension Scheme rules and regulations
  • Significant experience of pensions in the use of computerised payroll/pension systems
  • Detailed expert knowledge of pensions and benefits along with stakeholder and AVC pension schemes.
  • Able to work autonomously and interpret statutory and national policies for local use.
  • Excellent communication skills by any media and be of a level to overcome barriers of understanding.
