Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify and work closely with the hardware engineering development teams to select electronic components from preferred strategic sources.
  • Support the alignment of Component Engineering processes globally.
  • Create electronic and electromechanical components records in the database.
  • Research, review and obtain technical documentation for new and existent parts.
  • Approve new components for usage in Aviation Systems applications.
  • Provide technical support to sourcing with alternative parts and end of life solutions.
  • Assist hardware engineers in failure analysis of parts.
  • Support design engineering on NPI & sustainment products for Avionics and Power within Aviation Systems.
  • Review product change notices from component vendors and manage the impact by working with the manufacturer and the design/sustainment team. This includes monitoring End of Life (EOL) notifications.
  • Provide support across commodities as the component expert, focusing on memories, microcontrollers, and microprocessors.
  • Support the programs on topics such as uprating, qualification, anti-counterfeit, COTS assemblies, atmospheric radiation, obsolescence, long term storage, and lead-free.
  • Provide technical guidance to other Component Engineers.
  • Effectively provide technical recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.
  • Provide recommendations on the components database management.
  • Support the local team technical proficiency and growth.
  • Advise design and safety engineering on atmospheric radiation effects issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
  • 8 years of experience on component-level electronic development processes preferably as Electronic Component Engineer for airborne applications.
  • Knowledge on BOM's structure and electronic products assemblies.
  • Experience on creating engineering changes through the usage of a PLM.
  • Experience managing a components database.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge in component-level electronic manufacturing techniques (i.e. integrated circuits, transistors, resistors, diodes, magnetics, capacitors)
  • Strong technical and customer communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with varied multiple project assignments simultaneously.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience using Windchill PartsLink and PDMLink
  • Atmospheric radiation effects issues resolution experience.
  • Ability to work with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Familiarity with electronic design, test and analysis tools and systems.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Component Management standards.
