As part of our Component Engineering Team within the Sustainment Group, you will play a critical role in supporting the selection of components for various programs, production, and aftermarket services. As a proactive and enthusiastic individual, you will engage in problem-solving related to components from the design phase through to aftermarket support.
You should be a self-motivated individual who enjoys collaborating with others or working independently, always striving to think ahead and exceed expectations in maintaining our high service standards. You will be eager to learn and take on new challenges, gaining increased responsibility and expertise over time.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties
- Collaborate closely with Hardware Engineering teams to assist in the selection of electronic components from preferred suppliers.
- Establish and maintain records of electronic and electromechanical components within company databases.
- Conduct research and gather technical documentation for various components.
- Authorize new components for use in systems within the Defence and Aerospace sectors.
- Provide technical assistance to the Supply Chain regarding obsolescence issues, recommend alternative components, and resolve end-of-life challenges.
- Evaluate product change notifications from component manufacturers and coordinate with design and Sustainment Teams to mitigate business impacts.
- Support programs on topics such as qualification, anti-counterfeit measures, commercial off-the-shelf assemblies, atmospheric radiation, obsolescence, long-term storage, and lead-free initiatives.
- Build effective relationships across multiple departments to facilitate communication between Supply Chain, Quality, and the engineering community.
- A minimum of HNC or equivalent in an electronic discipline, or relevant experience and knowledge of components.
- A strong team player who can thrive in a multidisciplinary environment, yet also work independently with a keen analytical mindset and attention to detail. You should possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be energetic and self-driven, with the ability to manage tasks and priorities effectively.
