A brilliant SEMH school in Kings Lynn is currently seeking passionate and empathetic Advocates to join their team.

As an Advocate, you will work closely with students to provide individualized support and guidance, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of an Advocate:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, acting as a supportive mentor and advocate for their needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them develop coping strategies, build self-esteem, and manage their emotions effectively.
  • Assist students in setting and achieving personal, academic, and behavioural goals, monitoring their progress and celebrating their successes.
  • Advocate for students' rights and needs within the school community, liaising with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies as necessary.
  • Facilitate group workshops and activities focused on social skills development, emotional regulation, and resilience building.
  • Collaborate with the school's multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized support plans for students with complex needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and achievements, ensuring confidentiality and data protection protocols are followed.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children or young people, preferably in a SEMH or SEN (Special Educational Needs) setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of young people.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding procedures and legislation, with a commitment to promoting the welfare and safety of students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and respond effectively to challenging situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and best practices to enhance student support and outcomes.
