Maths Teacher for The Grove - A Specialist Autism School

Salary: MPS 1 £36,745 to 6 £47,666 + SEN 1 £2,539 (Inner London rate)

We are looking for a teacher who is resilient, flexible and demonstrates good subject knowledge to teach mathematics at KS2, KS3 and KS4 leading to Entry Level and GCSE pathways.

Part of the SEARCH Education Trust, The Grove is an outstanding special school meeting the needs of autistic pupils aged 5 to 19 working within multiple pathways to include the semi-formal pathways through to subject specific GCSEs. We opened our doors to 42 pupils in 2018 and are now oversubscribed with 130 on roll. We offer a newly refurbished school designed around our pupils' needs which offers specialist facilities to support our curriculum.

We offer a detailed, sequenced and carefully mapped out curriculum that reduces planning time for teachers. A bespoke assessment framework adapted by teachers which reduces time spent on data. We offer a coaching model for professional development and work co-productively to develop pedagogical practice across the school. As the key subject lead in your area of expertise you will have the opportunity to promote the delivery of an appropriate mathematics curriculum that meets and challenges the academic needs of our learners but is also tailored to meet the needs and challenges presented by their autism.

The post holder will play a significant role as a form tutor working alongside a supportive class team ensuring there are high quality and effective learning opportunities for pupils. Within the role of form tutor you will lead tutor times and also teach to the PSHE and life skills programmes.

Class sizes are small and you will be expected to work closely with teams across the school, sharing practice, knowledge and skills. You will work closely with the pastoral and multi-disciplinary teams to meet the bespoke needs and programmes for your pupils, including information for annual reviews.

The successful candidate will be required to:

Have previous experience of working within an Inclusive team and be committed to promoting inclusive education;Demonstrate strong subject knowledge of the national curriculum at KS2, KS3 and KS4; Have had some previous experience of teaching young people with autism;Work closely within the school team;Have a passion for Autism Education and the Inclusion Agenda;Have experience of completing SEN assessments and differentiated plans;Be able to undertake specialist teaching on a 1:1, small group and whole-class basis;Be a motivational teacher for all abilities ensuring learning is engaging and inclusive;Work within and contribute to the school community;Have a commitment to an integrated, therapeutic approach and ethos; Be very flexible, resilient and adapt quickly to change We are happy to offer school based tours or can chat with you over Zoom.
