Our client is a charity dedicated to helping people in horticulture.

Together with their network of partners, they provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance, and services for horticulturalists and their loved ones experiencing illness, disability, bereavement, family breakdown, and financial difficulties.


Our client has a real focus on improving the health and wellbeing outcomes of people working in horticulture and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for people working in horticulture.


Our client is now looking for a Volunteer Manager to join them on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37.5 hours per week.

The Role


As a Volunteer Manager, you will lead the design and delivery of a long-term integrated volunteer service strategy for our client's services across the UK.


You'll work closely with internal and external partners to build a credible evidence base for our client's volunteering programmes, ensuring that volunteers are recruited, supported and rewarded, and enhancing the volunteer journey from recruitment onwards.


Developing volunteer policies, procedures and systems, you'll foster a safe culture with a core focus on continual improvement and impact and develop our client's service team of volunteers to enhance the impact of their work across the UK.


Additionally, you will:

  • Lead on all aspects of daytoday administration
  • Develop reward and recognition programmes that celebrate volunteer success
  • Develop effective partnerships, networks and joint working arrangements
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures
About You

To be considered as a Volunteer Manager, you will need:

  • Experience of volunteer management and leading volunteer led service development and successful implementation
  • Experience of developing volunteer strategies, policies and procedures and ensuring compliance across dispersed teams
  • Experience of using research information and reliable data
  • A track record of developing successful, effective partnerships and coproduction of programmes at scale
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practice and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
